BIO Station

Since January 2000 Kuramathi can offer itīs guests a special service: a biological station which is managed by a marine biologist all year round!

Guests have now the opportunity to get information about the marine environment from a professional first hand. Demonstrations are given during diving and snorkeling as well as at the Bio-Station. A broad variety of biological topics is offered: coral reef structure and ecology, coral bleaching and recolonization, life history and morphology of corals, diversity of marine invertebrates, symbioses in the coral reef, fish families and their features, dangerous marine animals, adaptations to different habitats. On request, special microscopic communities like plankton and the meiofauna of submarine sands are demonstrated.
